MICHELE WOODRUFF
Michele A. Woodruff has been painting and designing her entire life. Having grown up in coastal Scituate, Massachusetts; she was influenced by the majesty of the ocean and vibrant New England flowers gardens. The ocean, sky, and floral subjects continue to be major themes in her paintings.
Michele spent much of her childhood seeking art projects as a way of avoiding math homework, thus forming a clear artistic path at an early age.
After graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. in Fine and Applied Arts, Michele worked as a Textile Designer in Manhattan for over a decade. She has designed fabrics for many US and European textile companies including Cone Mills, Milliken & Co. and Cotton, Inc. While living in New York and traveling throughout Europe for textile inspirations, she continued to develop her strong sense of color and artistic style. Michele works with a variety of mediums and feels at home with watercolor, pastel, acrylic and oil.
Presently, Michele lives in Springtown, PA and offers classes and workshops at her barn, Springhouse Studio, named for the 3 working springhouses on the c. 1825 property.
